Bloggerment win

Thanks to the 11 players who showed up for this weeks Britbloggerment on Stars. The numbers have been down over the last few weeks and I'm tempted to give the tourney a wee rest for a few weeks.Despite the low turnout I did quite enjoy the game though and that's what makes me think it should just keep running for now.If no more than 9 turn up any week then the games a bogey I think though!

Weegem was the bubble boy after my A8 decimated his AK shove when an 8 hit.He had been raising more frequently than usual and I didn't think he'd shove all in with as strong a hand as Big Slick. With my Bloggerment luck over the last year I'll take it though!

I knocked Rosie out in 3rd when my KK held v A10 and finished Quixote off headsup when I called his k6 shove with my A9.He hit a 6 on the flop and I rivered a 9 to win.Later I came 3rd in a 45 player,$6 game and took down a $16 inbetween a few standard crash outs.

It may not mean much in the grand pokery scheme of things but I was quite pleased to move up another few notches on the Sharkscope leaderboard and earn a wee gold star.

.

I'm still a donk though.I decided to play a $27 turb and reached the final table with about a 2.3k stack. It folded round to me ( two off the button) and I took a brain fart and shoved my Q8s.I think the blinds were about 500 in total and although it would have been nice to take it down,I had no need to push garbage at that stage and got my just deserts when AQ called and I didn't improve. It's always better to make an aggressive mistake rather than a passive one but that shove was just burning money.

After my tourney fun I decided to look around for a juicy cash table to hit before bedtime. It didn't take long to find one!

Chevy1961 had been raising almost every pot and had obviously got quite lucky as he was sitting on a $750 stack at the start of this hand.

** Dealing the flop: 3 of Hearts, 4 of Hearts, Ace of Diamonds

Acornman checked>> I've hit my Ace.If it had been against any other player I'd be wary of AQ/AK hands which dominate me.Chevys preflop opening range is so wide that I'm fairly sure I'm ahead.

CHEVY1961 bet - $19.50>> weak c-bet from him.

** Dealing the turn: Jack of Hearts

Acornman checked>> Hit my Jack kicker too and any worries of him having an A3/A4 type hand are gone.I'm almost certain he doesn't have flush either although I wouldn't be surprised to see him try and represent it.

Acornman wins $390.00 from the main pot >>Nice,I just wish I'd seen his mucked hand!

I think that AJ hand sent him over the edge! This hand was one of the funniest I've ever seen at the tables. It was obvious Chevvy was a marked man and people were doing anything to be in a pot with him.I'm guessing Purple sheep had a low pair and the turn and river were what beat him but I was cheering for tilty chevvy when his 9 high took down the $146 pot!

Bucket of trouble

I had a decent night last night at the tables with the only real blip being a daft call on my very last orbit.Does anyone else suffer from last orbit/hand syndrome?!

I'll get that out of the way first.I was at a Laddies $100nl 6 max table and had raised to $4 preflop with A10 on the button and the shorter stacked Big blind pushed for $46.Now the average pot was quite high, but I'd been at another table and had no idea if this was a regular move from the bb,he was tilting or he had a hand.I folded.

On the next orbit I'm dealt 1010 and raise $4 again ,only for him to go all in once more.I decided I was well ahead of any lower pair and prepared to gamble if he had overs. He did.QQ.The board didn't help me.Doh!

I did managed to rack up a decent night at 'Stars and my roll there has now bounced back from a low of $48 yesterday.Flopping a flush with 67h v AA helped and 1010 eventually hitting a straight and getting paid by a real donk was also nice.I've had a few problems with using Pokertracker and GT+ at Laddies recently ( doesn't seem to pick up all players at the table) but it works a treat at Stars and I've been using it ( along with my own instincts) to move tables if there don't appear to be any apparent donators.

I do seem to spend an awful lot of time on game selection and regularly find myself hopping from one site to another to get the juciest table available. It's not a good strategy for bonus clearing or earning player points but my main focus has always been on the game itself. The fact that Pokertracker shows an I play for an average pot of $17.26 at Laddies ( over 24k hands) bears that out I think.

Ok,not much else going on today.I'm still off on annual leave and Mrs A and Step A are still away in Millport. No more to say on that situation really.I'll see what happens when she gets back.I have pretty much decided that if we are through, then I'm going back to my flat rather than renting somewhere else.

Oh and in other breaking news the window cleaner arrived today while Nacho was out in the back garden.Nacho's not an aggressive dog and welcomed him by wagging his tail and then promptly peeing in the mans nice fresh bucket of hot soapy water.

Ok,thanks for reading...

Tues Update

I didn’t play very much on Sunday night, only long enough to lose my wee shark fin at ‘Stars by donking out of an 18 player $15 turbo and then losing with KK and AA to go out of a wee $6 sng before bed.

Last night didn’t begin well as I crashed out of a couple of FT $11 sng’s,one on the bubble and one after misplaying KK.I had raised from the button and got a caller from a player appropriately named “oneloosecaller”.The flop came a nasty Ace high with two spades and I led out anyway with a decent ¾ pot bet.The usual purpose of this is to get the information I require at this stage and not throw any more money away if beaten.

He called and fearing Ace rag ,I slowed down and checked the turn allowing him to catch his flush on the river. The misplaying part was calling his all in because unless he was bluffing he obviously had me beaten.I put him on the Ace or flush and called anyway which was just plain stupid.

Laddys late night crapshoot beckoned and once again I was fairly card dead and had to resort to a couple of steals when folded to me just to keep afloat.Eventually my raise all in from the cut off was called by Mr QQ in the sb and IDOG ( I donked out again).

I didn’t have much motivation to play another intense 6 max or turbo game so I began two tabling $50 nl full ring games and got lucky in my first hand on one table.I decided not to wait for the big blind before buying in and posted.I was dealt Js9s and checked my option. The button made a min raise to $1.Why oh why would anyone ever make a pathetic raise like that preflop? There were a couple of callers and I decided for 50c I would call too and proceed with plenty of caution unless I flopped a monster.

The flop came J high with 2 spades and I very nearly raised when the button made his continuation bet but chose to call. The 9d on the turn gave me two pairs and the flush draw and we saw a blank rag on the river.I bet ,he raised all in for $10 more and I called expecting QQ,KK,AA or the dreaded set.He showed J4 and was possibly trying to steal and then got carried away by the Jack high flop assuming I was only on the flush draw.I left my other table $10 up and then made a quick $10 at a 6 max table before packing it in for the night.

Tonight I’ll be cheering on ex Ranger,Rino Gattuso,as his Ac Milan team visit the darkside to play celt*c in the Champions league and then hitting the tables.
Cm'on the Milan......
